Moments Of Contact

Teejay Riedl wrote these lyrics. I had this tune, built for lyrics, but never liked any words I wrote for it. They have an edge of desperation and fear, and yet a detached 3rd person quality at the same time. This is another of my Wall Of Sound type songs... a good example of why I ask people to listen to it at least once with headphones. There's some things you just won't hear with regular speakers.

Will androids have disturbing dreams?

That hideous thumping has awakened you
Twisting, like a wraith
From some bent, broken faith
You rise to stalk the night

Streetlights flicker
Through torn-cloud moonrays
The elements arrayed
Like vast legions against you

(chorus)
Crouched in the darkness
With fine metal blades
The echoes of days
You can't even pull back
...Now feel their soft touch on your skin
Moments of contact

Driving the night
Like a frothing, hard-run steed
A pawn of your own greed
And lost to the people you knew

  (chorus)

The trust, broken
The precepts, shattered
And what does it matter
In a world you can't stand?

(chorus)

Once you belonged to this world
And maybe one day yet again
But deciding when?
Is quite beyond your control

(chorus)

Grasp now, for structure
Your relevance, failing
Listen - a subtle wailing
And is it too late , now, to turn back?
